International Student Services (ISS) invites you to participate in the International Aggie Welcome Party on Friday, August 30th 2019

The International Aggie Welcome Party will be a chance for new international students to meet other international students and student organizations; enjoy performances by other student organizations; learn a little more about Aggie traditions; learn about International Student Association's (ISA) and their upcoming 50th Anniversary events; and enjoy the evening with refreshments, games, and some music and dancing led by DJ Franco!

‚ÄčThe International Aggie Welcome Party will include a special program to kick off ISA's 50th Anniversary, as they will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary through next year (Fall 2019-Spring 2020), which was founded in 1969.

Who: All International Students!
What: A party for all international students to celebrate diversity.
When: August 30th, 2019 6:00pm-11:00pm
Where: Rec Center Room 243 Archery Room and Outdoor Terrace
Why: A great opportunity to meet international students and the ISS staff! Learn more about the different cultures and traditions you can find in Aggieland!

This social gathering is held at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. The International Aggie Welcome Party (IAWP) is a great opportunity for international students to meet each other and other cultural organizations. The party features food, performances, music, DJ, and dancing. 

This fall of 2019, the International Aggie Welcome Party (IAWP) will include a special program to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of International Student Association (ISA).

So this will be a special event that you don't want to miss! Please register HERE to attend!
Schedule of International Aggie Welcome Party (IAWP)
  • 6:00pm Registration/Check-in Starts
  • 6:30pm ISA 50th Anniversary Program (including special speakers and cutting of a cake)
  • 7:00pm Interacting with Student Organizations and ISS Sponsors
  • 7:30pm Welcome and Introductions
  • 7:45pm Performances by Student Organizations (food will be served)
  • 9:00pm Music, dancing, and DJ inside Archery Room - games and refreshments outside on Outdoor Terrace
  • 11:00pm IAWP Ends
Volunteer tasks for the IAWP may include but are not limited to assisting with the attendee registration process, set up, helping attendees navigate the venue, distributing refreshments/food to attendees, and clean up after the event.

Ballet Folklorico Celestial
A group at Texas A&M that dance and perform traditional Mexican dances. 

TAMU Percussion Studio
Percussion Studio is a student-led organization at TAMU dedicated to the art of percussive ensemble performances. They provide a unique and original show combining traditional percussion ensembles with and without melody to more original pieces.

Freestyle Underground Street Dancers
FUSD stands for Freestyle Underground Street Dancers. They are a dance group that revolves around finding your own style in the various types of "urban" dances. They dance to express, not impress.

TAMU Ballroom 
TAMU Ballroom offers weekly ballroom lessons taught by a professional dance instructor, various social events, and the opportunity to meet some awesome people!

Traditions Council 
Traditions Council is a Student Government Association committee at Texas A&M University. They strive to preserve and promote the traditions of Texas A&M through outreach and education. They will lead us in yells during the Aggie Welcome Party!.

  • IAWP Registration/Check-in will be in the Rec Center Dining Area on the first floor.
  • The event will take place in the Rec Center Archery Room 243 (upstairs)

TAMU Bus Routes
The Rec Center is located west of the main campus across Welborne Road. There are several on-campus buses that will take you to the Rec Center. However, most off-campus buses will stop at the MSC. The MSC is walking distance from the Rec Center. Visit BUS ROUTES for details. Bus #1 and #8 stop near the Rec Center. See timings as the on-campus buses will end service to the Rec Center early and the off-campus buses will continue service later to from the MSC. 

Parking Information
  • The closest parking is available on the north side and south side of the Rec Center. The north side parking is limited and there is more parking on the south side. Parking at the Rec Center is free after 5pm.
  • There is also parking at the West Campus Garage. But it is not free.

  • If you already have a parking permit, you can park in the Rec Center parking lot or the Reed parking lot.
