Distance Learners


Howdy!
Welcome to the page that is designed for International Students solely in participation with Distance Education courses at Texas A&M University.

For information about Distance Education at Texas A&M University please refer to this website at http://distance.tamu.edu
Any Texas A&M University student who is not a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident is considered an international student. 

Please have your academic department send an email to iss@tamu.edu with the following information.
  •       Student’s name and UIN
  •       That the student is currently outside the United States and does not intend to enter the United States during the time of student
International students currently residing in the United States on a visa other than F-1 or J-1 (such as an H1-B employment based visa) and who are enrolling in distance learning degree programs or certificates, are required to verify their immigration status with International Student Services. All incoming international students have a hold automatically placed on their student record pending immigration verification. Before the hold can be removed, all international students must verify their immigration status by checking in with International Student Services.
Distance learning students living outside the Bryan/College Station area may either physically check in with International Student Services or alternatively, verify their immigration status by electronically submitting the following documents:
  • Please have your academic department send an email to iss@tamu.edu with the following information.
    1.             Student’s name and UIN
    2.             That the student is currently inside the United States and will be taking courses by distance education.
  • Copies of your current Immigration documents (passport, visa, I-94 card, I-797C Notice of Action, etc). This paperwork can be uploaded into the AIS system
  • Complete the Online Orientation
For information on how to apply for a waiver of the Texas A&M University System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP)
If you are on an F-1 or J-1 visa, attending another university with an I-20/DS2019.

If you are currently inside the U.S. with a F-1/J-1 visa you will need to submit:
  • Co-enrollment/ no objection document from the other schools International Student Advisor. This paperwork can be uploaded into the AIS system.
  • Copies of your current Immigration documents (passport, visa, I-94 card, I-20 or DS2019). This paperwork can be uploaded into the AIS system
