Meet the Staff

Bill Taylor

Director

Bill Taylor has been with International Student Services since 1998 and became director in 2013.  He is the Primary Designated School Official for the F visa program and the Responsible Officer for the J visa program at Texas A&M University.  He has participated in the NAFSA Trainer Corp and taught F and J workshops.  Prior to joining Texas A&M University, he was an adjunct instructor at Central Texas College and Temple College.  He also worked on a congressional campaign.   He graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Baylor University with a Masters of Public Policy and Administration.  While at Angelo State University, he participated in a study abroad program in L√ľneburg, Germany.

Amanda Brinlee

Assistant Director

Amanda Brinlee has been with International Student Services since 2006 and is currently a Assistant Director. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology in 2005 and a Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration in 2010. Amanda is actively involved in NAFSA and currently serves on the Region III team on the Chair Stream. She has previously served as the Chair on the Houston Forum for International student and Scholar Advisors. Amanda grew up in the Bryan/College Station area and enjoys being an Aggie!

Samantha Clement

Assistant Director

Originally from Maryland, Samantha completed her Bachelor’s degree in Language and International Trade (Spanish/Tourism) from Clemson University. She then completed her Master’s degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. Samantha has been working with International Student Services since 2008 and really enjoys assisting international students!

Alyssa Morgan

International Student Advisor I

Alyssa joined International Student Services in July of 2013.  She is from a small town of Columbus, TX.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.  She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology. Alyssa enjoys assisting international students! In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and catching up on crime/detective shows and documentaries.

Julie Brooks

International Student Advisor I

Julie joined International Student Services in September 2014. Originally from Louisiana, she earned an Associate of Arts in Office Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Grambling State University. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, dancing, and listening to good music.

Daniel Conklin

International Student Advisor I

Daniel John Conklin is from the small town of Greeley, Pennsylvania and recently moved from Columbus, Ohio to work in the International Student Services office in June 2016.  He received his Bachelor’s Degrees in Finance and Marketing with a minor in International Business from The Pennsylvania State University in December 2002.  From there, he worked in the retail banking field for over nine years and during this time, also participated in a Rotary Group Study Exchange in the Philippines in 2005 and studied the German language for seven years in the United States and in Germany with the Goethe Institut. After banking, he served from September 2011-November 2013 as a Peace Corps Youth Development Volunteer in Morocco.  Thanks to completing Peace Corps Service, he was able to attend and earn his Master’s Degree in December 2015 as a Coverdell Fellow at Bowling Green State University in Cross-Cultural and International Education with a minor in Public Policy.  In his spare time, Daniel likes hiking, fishing, reading and learning new languages, watching all collegiate and professional sports live and on TV, and keeping up with storylines and character development of his favorite shows.

David Nathan Huddleston

International Student Advisor I

David Nathan Huddleston comes from Decatur, AL. He graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a minor in Speech Communications. For two years, David served as international student advisor for F-1 students, as well as teaching English, speech and physical education at Agape Christian School in Saipan, CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.) He enjoys musical theater, acting, music, and cooking (especially fried chicken and biscuits.) David is thrilled to be part of the Aggie family.

Jie Fan

International Student Advisor I

As a native Beijinger, Jie (“Jay”) finished her bachelor’s degree in International Politics from Beijing International Studies University. Then she came to the United States and studied at Florida State University for her master in International Affairs. As an international student, Jie has experienced the diversity and globalism of American culture and found her purpose in life. After graduation, she moved back to Beijing China and served as an English instructor and education consultant for four years and helped many students to prepare for their new adventure in America. Now, Jie is honored to join in the ISS team at Texas A&M University to help international students to fully enjoy being Aggies. If you want to chat with Jie, she is a big a fan of comics/anime, drama, and detective/crime novels.

Jessica Forrest

International Student Advisor I

Jessi is from Green Bay, WI. She has a BA in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MA in International Studies-Education from Concordia University in Irvine, CA. She has spent one year abroad working and living in China, and three years working and living in Colombia. Her work experience includes customer service, student loan consolidation processing, English & culture instruction at university level, and coordination for international volunteers abroad. She enjoys reading, puzzles, going to Green Bay Packers games, learning new types of dance, and experiencing new places.

Chris Larkin

International Student Advisor I

Chris originally hails from Atlanta, GA but lived in Bangladesh as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2004-2006 and then lived in South Korea from 2007 to 2015.  During his 10 years in Asia, he was able to travel to many different countries in East, Southeast and South Asia.  Chris has worked as an archaeologist, curator, radio producer and sound editor in previous endeavors.  He is also an amateur marathon runner and astronomer and enjoys traveling outside of the United States when time allows.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Georgia State University and his Master of Arts in Anthropology from University of New Mexico.  Currently, he is working on his Doctorate of Education in Higher Education from Concordia University-Portland.

Amanda Hull

International Student Advisor I

Amanda is originally from McDonald, OH, but studied in London, England in 2011 and taught English in Cheonan, South Korea from 2013-2014. She has also spent time in Japan, France, Ireland, and Wales, and looks forward to expanding that list in the future. Her work experience includes everything from manufacturing to horse racing to libraries, and all of it is fodder for inspiration in her next novel! In addition to writing, Amanda likes playing video games, reading, going to hockey games, and superhero movies. She’s so excited to join the Aggie team and learn about all that Texas has to offer! Amanda earned her BS in Journalism and Broadcast Meteorology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH, and her M.S.Ed. in Student Affairs and College Counseling from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, OH.

Jessica Thomas

International Student Advisor I

Jessica is from Newtown, Connecticut. She got her Bachelor’s honors degree in International Relations from the University of Connecticut before moving to Seoul, South Korea to complete her Master’s in International Trade. While in Seoul, Jessica had the opportunity to learn Korean and travel around Asia, while working as an English teacher for major South Korean companies. In the five years she lived abroad she also had the chance to work as a freelance actress in Korean productions, as well as a regular guest on a radio show while doing regular voice-work. Her hobbies include singing, seeing friends, learning new things, experiencing different cultures, and watching horror movies on Netflix at home with her dog. More than anything, she is excited to meet and help the international students here at Texas A&M!

Rose Mesecher

Administrative Associate IV

Born in Ohio, though travelled a lot while younger. Rose has seventeen years of experience in office and business operations, receiving an Associate of Arts in Business Administration.  Rose has been working with International Student Services since the summer of 2017 and really enjoys assisting others! In her spare time, Rose is a volunteer and enjoys arts, crafts and designing new things as well as spending time with family.
