Posted on Friday, Mar 11, 2016 On March 11, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security has issued the final fules for "Improving and Expanding Training Opportunties for F-1 Nonimmigrant Students with STEM Degrees and Cap-Gap Relief for All Eligible F-1 Students; Final Rule." The regulations will go into effect May 10, 2016. International Student Services (ISS) will update its forms and website after Spring Break (March 14-18). As of March 11, 2016, there is still a lawsuit challenging the legality of the STEM OPT program. It is unknown how the lawsuit will affect the implementation of the new regulations.
