Important Changes in new international student I-20/DS-2019 Processing

Posted on Monday, Feb 22, 2016

International Student Services (ISS) is implementing changes to the new student I-20 (F-1 visa) and DS-2019 (J-1 visa) process.

Upload Documents to AIS

All admitted students are now able to upload the necessary documentation needed for an I-20 or DS-2019 to the Applicant Information System (AIS), https://applicant.tamu.edu.  Please note that while applicants in Mays Business School, Health Science Center and the English Language Institute will be able to upload their I-20 or DS-2019 documentation to AIS, they will not be able to submit admission documentation or check the status of their admission.

Now that all international students are able to upload to AIS, we will no longer be accepting documents form students via email, mail or fax.  The purpose is to prevent duplicate processing.

Students will need to upload the following documents in order to be issued an I-20/DS-2019.

  • Immigration Questionnaire

  • Proof of financial support.  This includes personal and family funds, and departmental funds.

The Immigration Questionnaire and information concerning proof of financial support are located at http://iss.tamu.edu/Prospective-Students/You-are-admitted-Now-What

Revised Forms

The following forms have been revised.

  • The Immigration Questionnaire

  • Declaration of Financial Support

  • Mailing Instructions

The following forms are no longer required.

  • The Transfer In Form

  • The I-134 and supporting documents

Tracking the Status of the I-20 or DS-2019

Within this semester, international students will be able to track the status of their I-20/DS-2019 in AIS.  Until then, academic departments can check the status of the I-20 or DS-2019 on GOAINTL and SPACMNT in Compass.

It is our goal once the necessary documents are received, reviewed and considered complete, the I-20 or DS-2019 will be issued within 5 business days.
